On a typical day, you experience the same episodes from your past.
Every day, you visit the same moment from your past.
You let yourself remember, the good and the bad, and most important, the lessons learned.
You ask yourself, “What would I do differently?”
What would I have done differently that I didn’t?
You can’t change what you do or don’t do, but you can learn from it.
You can’t change the situation, but you can change how you react to it.
Sometimes, the things we wish we could change are precisely the things that teach us the most.
Think about it.
Some of the most important people in your life now are the ones you have had to let go, the ones who hurt you, or treated you unfairly.
It’s not easy to let go, but I promise you, if you do it, you will gain so much.
You will gain forgiveness.
You will gain a life filled with more opportunities to learn.
If you’re at a point in your life where you’re feeling stuck, with nothing you can do to change the outcome of your situation, ask yourself what you’re holding on to, and then let it go.
Ask yourself, what do you need to learn from this?
What lessons can you learn from this?
What can you learn about yourself?
Sometimes, the things we wish we could change are precisely the things that teach us the most.
Tell yourself, “I’m letting go.”
Write the words over and over again, in your mind.
Do this for three minutes, three times a day.
After that, for one week, keep a paper and pen near your bed, where you can write down one good thing that happened to you every time you think of something you wish you could change.
If you haven’t let go, I’m here to help.
On a typical day, you experience the same episodes from your past. You hate your job. You’re about to lose your apartment. You have an inexplicable rash. You are single again. You are angry at someone you love. Or you are just sad. You’re at a loss. You’re standing in the middle of a desert. You’re in a cornfield. Or you’re on an island. The last thing you remember is walking into a bar. You walk up to the bar and order a drink.
But then, something unexpected happens.
It’s a great day! You are going on a great adventure! You’re leaving your job! You’re about to get married! You’re having a baby! You’re going to buy that new car! You’re getting a promotion at work! You’re about to get your heart broken! You are not going to die!
But just as suddenly as you are in that bar, you are back on that beach. You are walking back to the car. You are the only one left on the beach. You’re sitting in your car and staring at the road ahead. You’re stuck. You’re lost. You’re waiting.
It’s the middle of the night. You’re looking for a place to sleep. You’re lost. You’re looking for an open gas station. You’re taking a wrong turn. You’re driving on a highway. You’re in the middle of the desert.
You’re just sitting there, not moving, not going anywhere.
“If I’m stuck in a desert, and I’ve been there for months, then what am I doing in a bar?” you ask yourself. “I should be out there, on that desert, looking for a way out of it.”
And that is the core of the story. You are trapped in a desert. But you are still alive.
But you are also still in the bar. You are trapped in the bar, and it is just another night. But you are alive.
It’s the middle of the night. You’re looking for a place to sleep. You’re lost. You’re looking for an open gas station. You’re taking a wrong turn. You’re driving on a highway. You’re in the middle of the desert.
And that is the core of the story. You are trapped in a bar. But you are still alive.
The core of the story is that you are trapped in the desert. But you are still alive.
I want to explore this idea, this core of the story. Because it is at the heart of everything I have ever written. This is how the stories feel to me. And I want to share that with you.
This is the message that I want to get across to my readers.
There’s a fundamental difference between the worlds of science fiction and reality.
And I want to explore this idea. I want to explore the concepts of “being trapped in a desert” and “still being alive.”
I want to explore the idea that there are more ways to be alive than to be dead.
