For a year you thought you were the last person from your family. One day you found out missing relation. The agony is still the same. I used to think I will die first, then my sister, then my mother. I used to think we would die together.

“When they said you have a sister, I was happy, but after a while I realised it was you. I thought maybe you were just playing a trick. But then, I had to think about your condition. You have leukaemia and your chances are limited.

“When you went to your doctor I got scared. I couldn’t believe what they said. I was so confused. I thought it was a joke. It was too hard to accept. But then, they came to me. I was happy, but then they told me I had to accept it. I couldn’t accept it.

“I cried, I cried. They said they have done everything they can do.

“Now you are in a hospital in the UK and are getting better. But it is so difficult to accept. I think I will be sick until I see you.

“I can’t stop thinking about you. I hope you feel good and strong again. I hope you feel you are a beautiful princess. I hope you feel good and strong.

“I know you are strong, but I can’t stop thinking about you. I love you, I love you, I love you.”

Claire and the family were brought together by the charity Save Leukaemia.

Claire’s cousin, Sarah Hartley, who runs Save Leukaemia, said: “I was in Birmingham at the weekend and I decided to contact the boys because I’ve known them since they were little.

“Their mum was really poorly, so I thought I’d see if it was possible to get them together. I spoke to Claire and arranged to go and see her.

“When I arrived, I told Claire I’d be there for a few hours. The boys got in touch and said they were keen to meet her. It was so amazing to see them together.”

The boys have since been sent to visit Claire in hospital, and they have received cards and gifts from children across the country.

The family say they have been overwhelmed by the support they have received.

Sarah added: “They are overwhelmed by the support they’ve received. We set up a fundraising page in the hope that we could raise enough money to pay for the boys to go to Disneyland.

“We’ve already raised £1,000 and people have been sending them so much amazing support, including from schools. They’ve received cards, presents and kind messages.”

Claire added: “It was amazing to meet them. The boys are so brave. They’re young but they have the mentality of a 30-year-old. They’re both quite tall and they are so mature. I have never met such brave boys.

“I want to thank the boys for coming all the way to see me and everyone who has sent them cards and gifts.”

The boys, who live in New Street, Dudley, have a message for other children with cancer.

They said: “Don’t give up, just keep fighting.”
