You go to work with the sunrise. This time you go out earlier and see something unexpected. There are two suns.
On your commute to work, you expect to see the sun rise as usual. This time, two suns rise.
They rise together, but not quite the same way. They rise together, but not quite together.
The new sun is very close to your left. The old sun is close to your right.
Now you can see both of them rising. They are in perfect synchronicity.
And for the rest of the day, they are rising together, but not exactly together.
Both will rise, but not at exactly the same time.
Then, later in the day, the new sun rises in a different place, to your left, while the old sun is still rising in the same place, to your right.
The new sun rises in a different place, but not quite as far from the old sun as the day before.
Over the next few days, the two suns will rise and set at different times, but will be in perfect synchrony.
And the days go by.
One day, the new sun rises.
It appears to the left of the old sun. The new sun rises.
It appears to the right of the old sun.
It appears to the front of the old sun.
It seems like the old sun is going to have a day off.
But it does not.
It rises just as it did before.
But the sun rises on the other side of the sky.
It rises on the wrong side of the sky.
The old sun has risen.
It rises on the wrong side of the sky.
The new sun has risen.
It appears to the left of the old sun. The new sun rises.
You go to work with the sunrise. This time you go out earlier and see something unexpected. There are two suns.
Trying to stay awake? Here’s another one: You wake up and find yourself covered in honey.
The honey, it turns out, is from a honeybee. And the bees have laid their eggs in your hair. And now you have to get out of bed and find a beekeeper.
Pest control is similar: You have to wake up early, go outside and kill bugs. Like most rodents, insects that you want to eat, like mosquitoes, do not want to be woken up in the morning, because they are on the move.
This time the pests are not being eaten, they are trying to wake you up.
To kill them, you have to wake up early.
The lesson from all this: Get up early and go to bed early. This is basic biology.

We are witnessing a new phenomenon. The sun is rising on two different days, in two different places. On January 7th, the sun rose in Bariloche, Argentina, and in Trujillo, Peru. On January 9th, the sun rose in Bariloche, and in Doha, Qatar.
Photographer Gennady Fyodorov posted the photo on his Instagram account, but it has since gone viral. He said the view was incredible.
There are several possible explanations for the phenomenon. One of them is that the solar radiation is uneven. A planet’s axis points at different places at different times.
It has been a record-breaking year so far, with the sun rising and setting more than 50 times since the beginning of December.
