He loves math and physics. But something happened and he stopped being a logical person and started acting irrationally.
A logical person starts acting irrationally.
I was glad for that and ready to get rid of the people who had ruined my life.
I found a number for a moving company, arranged to have a friend move me into a tiny flat on a little hill in South London, and wrote an angsty goodbye letter to my father, who was away on business.
I should have known that nothing good ever came from a letter.
Three days later he phoned me.
What do you think happened?
A year after I left, I got a call from an old friend who was living in Belgium.
He told me that my father had died.
I was at work, and he hung up the phone before I could ask him any questions.
Later that day I received a phone call from a Belgian policeman telling me that my father had drowned while on a trip to France.
They had no details.
Two years later I received a letter from a British man who said that he had been told by someone that I was living in Spain.
He wanted to know if I was all right.
I was very surprised and told him that I had left England because I was living in Spain, but that I was sorry to hear that he had died.
He asked me to send him a copy of my book.
I never did.
My father’s death changed my life.
I started to fear the next letter I would receive, so I stopped writing.
I was afraid that if I wrote again, I would find out that he was dead.
I haven’t written a letter since.
I was working as a technical writer and had a young family.
I didn’t want to stop working, but I was scared to be a stay – at – home parent, and I couldn’t find any jobs in my field in the South of England.
I decided to move to Scotland, where I have family.
I was lucky – it’s a beautiful place.
I live on a farm and look after a herd of cows.
My daughter is 15.
When she was young, I would spend all my time with her, even when I was working.
Now I work, and she spends time with other children.
We have a wonderful relationship.
I’m not sure what she thinks of me now.
I think she is angry with me, and I can understand that.
